There are a lot of acupuncture facts and fictions. Acupuncture has gained popularity with patients’ increased interest in alternative, drug-free treatment options.  Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) have been used effectively for thousands of years to treat a wide array of conditions. When performed by a skilled and knowledgeable provider, acupuncture can manage many modern health issues.  If you’ve considered acupuncture, but haven’t tried it yet, First Health Associates gives six reasons why you should try acupuncture.

If you’ve been wanting to try acupuncture but need a little nudge, consider these six reasons why you should give it a try:

    WHY YOU SHOULD TRY ACUPUNCTURE

    1. Personalized treatment – Acupuncturists treat the patient, not the disease. They are highly trained to assess the “whole” individual and believe in the body’s natural healing capabilities.  Practitioners seek to fully understand each person’s individual story and identify things that could be causing an interruption to the natural healing process.  No two individuals are they same; thus no two patients are treated in the same way.
    2. Minimal pain, maximum gain – Of course, you will feel something.  After all, tiny little needles are inserted into your skin. But most patients describe it as a “pinch.”   If your condition is marked by aches and pains, it’s likely that the minimal pain of acupuncture needles will far outweigh the pain caused by your condition.
    3. Added perks – Acupuncture can work wonders on chronic pain and other ailments. But many patients report improved sleep, mood and digestion as an added bonus.
    4. Eliminates the cause, not just the symptoms – TCM practitioners are problem solvers. They seek to identify and eliminate the cause of an ailment.  Naturally, when the cause is eliminated, the symptoms will disappear as well.  Acupuncture restores the body’s natural healing capabilities.
    5. Effective and drug-free – Acupuncture has been around for more than 3,000 years.  It would never have endured as a viable treatment option if it didn’t work.  It’s been shown to be an effective, drug-free treatment for many ailments.  In fact, in the late 1970s, the World Health Organization recognized the ability of acupuncture to treat nearly four dozen common ailments, including: neuro-musculoskeletal conditions (such as arthritis, neuralgia, insomnia, dizziness, and neck/shoulder pain); emotional and psychological disorders (such as depression and anxiety); circulatory disorders (such as hypertension, angina pectoris, arteriosclerosis and anemia); addictions to alcohol, nicotine and other drugs; respiratory disorders (such as emphysema, sinusitis, allergies and bronchitis); and gastrointestinal conditions (such as food allergies, ulcers, chronic diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, intestinal weakness, anorexia and gastritis). ,
