Some common symptoms are:
• dry cough
• excess mucus production
• chest discomfort
• shortness of breath
Antibiotics may be necessary. Before starting below please make sure you have been cleared of more serious lung pathologies by your physician.
Drinking slippery elm tea, which contains mucilage- a substance that can help calm inflamed tissue- may help relieve cough and sore throat.
A study found that extracts from the roots of Pelargonium sidoides (Umckaloabo, South African Geranium) helped ease cough, chest discomfort, and mucus production.
Eucalyptus oil has antiviral properties which are especially effective when breathed in through a eucalyptus steam inhalation procedure.
Herbs such as echinacea and astragalus may help keep your immune system strong enough to fight off viruses that cause bronchitis.
Avoid irritants such as tobacco smoke.
Wash your hands frequently.
