Dr. Jason Gruss is the director of First Health’s department of physical medicine. A 2003 graduate of Chicago Medical School, Dr. Jason did his internship at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, where he was awarded Resident of the Year in 2004. With his interest in the proper function of the human frame and nervous system, he chose Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) as his specialty. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital in Chicago where he became chief resident in 2006.

Dr. Gruss specializes in the treatment of headaches. In 2009, he established the First Health Headache Clinic to offer patients an integrated approach to treating their headaches. The strong link between the body’s chemistries, neurologic patterns, and muscle and joint functions supports the use of the latest in headache medicines, combined with appropriate non-medicinal therapies.

Dr. Gruss, his wife, Kristen and two children, Alyson and Katherine, reside in Park Ridge. He is a fellow in the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and a member of the National Headache Foundation, the American Headache Society, and the Association of Academic Physiatrists.
