Week 6 Updates

Largest Loser Challengers roared into the half way point of the program by surpassing the 200 pound mark with their total weight loss!  Lisa tacked on another pound to continue to secure her overall lead with 9.4%, but Raquel tacked on another 3 pound week to close in with 9.1% and Darrel had another huge week with 6 pounds as he surpasses the 30 pound mark (8.4%).  Nell continues her solid losses with a 2.6 pound week and Mary Kay was welcomed back from vacation with a 2.8 pound loss. 

What’s with the board? 
The challenge was shook up this week with a double elimination AND a track 1 reinstatement.  Mary Kay was reinstated to Track 1 since she had lost the highest percentage of weight thus far among track 2 contestants.  Despite excellent overall efforts, the scale did not favor John and Ray this week, so they were “promoted” to the overall track 2 challenge. 

Nutrition Notes:  Tom discussed Supplements this week and emphasized (then re-emphasized and re-reemphasized) that supplements should be considered a “supplement” to our weight loss efforts.  His weight loss protocol includes a high-potency multivitamin coupled with a synergistic nutrient formulation to support metabolism (endotrim).  In addition, he recommends base nutrition supplements for general health promotion:  Fish Oil, Glucosamine, and Vitamin D.

3) Paleomeal

Training Notes:  Saturday was all Courtney and all cardio.  She had the group all to herself and went with her “all burn” workout.  There was some strength training involved, but all moves were primarily geared at getting the heart rate up and hitting the larger muscle groups for what Courtney calls “killin calories.”


Half Way Update:  While big weight loss numbers typically make the press, our true interests lie in the numbers behind the numbers.  Tom re-evaluated measurements this week and after our trainers reviewed the numbers they are even happier with the changes in body composition and waist/hip circumferences than they are with the weight loss numbers.  “It’s great to see people doing it the right way” Courtney said.  “People can lose 10 or 20 pounds in a few weeks with a crash diet, but this is so much different.  They’re building a strong base of fitness and lifestyle habits and it’s showing up in their body comp numbers and will ultimately help them stick with it 6 months and even 6 years down the road.”
