Largest Loser:  Week 1 Updates

“I can’t do that, are you crazy?”  One of our participants said as her trainer handed her a jump rope.

“I’m not sure I can control my portion sizes” Another participant told the Dietitian.

By the end of just one week, Largest Loser Participants have slipped on boxing gloves, they have jumped rope, and even RAN on the treadmill!  They are logging their food intake successfully and even adding cardiovascular exercise on their own.

After just 1 week, “I can’t jump rope, I can’t control my diet, I can’t get motivated to exercise” is changing.

We are starting to hear “I CAN!”

On Saturday our participants let the scale do the talking.  And the scale was screaming “I can lose weight!”
The group posted 70.4 pounds of weight loss which is 5# a piece, or 2.23% of their initial weight.  Only 1 of our previous groups has exceeded 2% in the first week, so this group is setting the stage for a pretty amazing run.  Nell led the way in week 1 with 7.6# (3.05%) followed by 7 from John (2.41%) and 2 or more pounds by EVERY other challenger in the program.  When asked who did well this week, Tom replied “Everybody!  We’ve never had a program start out with such consistent and significant weight loss across the board.  Only 1 person dropped below 1% this week Darrell), but what most people don’t realize is that he was actually 10# heavier 10 days ago!”

Training Report:
As trainers, Courtney, Kelly, and Toni are impressed with the effort and the changes they are already noticing from both teams in week 1, but at the same time have no intentions of easing up.  In their meeting, your trainers were quoted saying, “We’re not looking for average results.  ‘just OK’ isn’t going to make us satisfied.  We want to see a 12 week transformation that sets the stage for a healthy next 12 years.”

Promotion:
Despite totaling over 10 pounds of combined weight loss this week, Susanne and Lisa were promoted to the overall challenge (Track 2).  Since they do work in the clinic, it was suggested that they not be eligible to receive the grand prize award, so they were manually promoted to track 2 this week despite their big numbers.  “Hey, I can’t be upset about it, I lost 5 pounds!” Lisa said after the weigh in.  “This isn’t going to slow me down 1 bit.”
