Seriously?  Really?  Tom and Courtney what are you doing that Triple Threat has been able to avoid track 1 elimination yet another week?  Better question—what is Dr. Nick doing to keep Triple Threat safe?  Whatever it is… it worked again as triple threat avoided the double elimination week this week.

This week also featured some astonishing individual numbers as well.  Peggy roared back on track with a 5# week and John continued his tear with another 5# week as well.  Mary and Dianne continued their streaks with 3.2 and 2.6 pounds respectively.  Stephanie, Phil, and Mary Anne all posted back to back weeks with 2# or more.

Elimination
This week was a double elimination week which found 2 of Fat to Phat’s team making the transition to track 2.  Tom chimed in by saying “The only thing I hate more than eliminations is double eliminations.  Everyone in this program is working very hard so I hate to see someone having so much overall success post 1 off week and move to track 2.  The fact of the matter though is that everyone on the program except for 1 person is going to be competing on track 2.  Maybe it happens Feb. 20th, maybe it happens April 10th but it will happen.  The primary focus we have in this program goes way beyond the scope of how much weight a person loses in 1 week.  This program is about making consistent steps forward to lead to short term weight loss, lifelong weight management, and overall health promotion.”

…For anyone who knows Tom, you know his soap box session goes on and on but we had to cut him short J  He and all of our providers love the dynamic of game play but are truly passionate and focused not on the next 7 days or 12 weeks but the next 7 months or 12 years.

Education
This week’s topic was exercise metabolism.  Tom covered the key variables associated with exercise and discussed how to get the most bang for buck when it comes to the hard work you put into the gym.  The take home keys were:

1) Monitor Zone specific training

2) Mix up your training with the F.I.T.T. principles

3) Step outside the box (your zone) periodically

4) Don’t underestimate recovery in the overall training plan

5) Emphasizing nutrition makes steps 1-4 more effective

Exercise
For the Saturday workout, contestants we able to choose between Courtney’s “Step and Sculpt better than kickboxing” workout and Tom’s “Kickboxing doesn’t need a catchy name cuz it’s awesome” workout.   Anecdotal reports appear to indicate that Courtney’s workout was much better, but those reports were leaked by…. Courtney!

Behind the Scenes
We did finally beat some info out of Dr. Nick as to why Triple Threat is dominating.  All we could get out of him though was “Hey, it’s as simple as this… I’m just that good”
